Committee for Scientific Integrity

1. Purpose

The Committee for Research Integrity was set up by the management of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III to raise awareness of the Code of Good Scientific Practice and to encourage its adoption throughout the organisation. It also provides advice and arbitration in the event of disputes.

 

2. Functions

The Committee's functions are:

a. To ensure that the precepts contained in the Code of Good Scientific Practice are observed and adhered to.

b. To update the Code of Good Scientific Practice each year to ensure it is line with any new legislation on the matter.

c. To arbitrate in connection with any uncertainties or conflicts that arise in relation to the integrity of research, at the request of the interested parties or the management of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III.

d. To ensure that the scientists working in the Institute's centres are informed and aware of any issues, requirements and guidelines relating to the ethical and deontological aspects of biomedical research.

e. To be observant and attentive to new issues arising in relation to the integrity of research and to propose updates to the contents Code of Good Scientific Practice to the Institute's management. The Committee will write its own Regulations.
