International collaboration

The International Association of National Public Health Institutes ( International Association of National Public Health Institutes, IANPHI) is a worldwide initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to reinforce public health systems and increase their coordination.

Set up formally in 2006, the Association seeks joint coordinated responses to the challenges and possible risks of public health in the world today. IANPHI also acts as a platform for collective action by the directors of public health institutes all over the world, encouraging and facilitating communication and cooperation between them.

Currently, more than sixty national health institutes in different parts of the world, including the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, are members of IANPHI. Since the Foundation was set up, 35 projects have been implemented in 20 countries.
