European coordination

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is an intergovernmental programme for European cooperation in science and technology aimed at the coordination of nationally-funded research. It contributes to reducing the fragmentation in European research investments and opening the European Research Area to cooperation worldwide.

COST provides a platform for European scientists to cooperate on a particular project and exchange expertise. These projects are called Actions. The funds it uses come from the 7th Framework Programme.
