Technological Platforms (IMI, Nanotechnology)

The European Technological Platforms  address strategic problems in those cases where achieving future EU growth, competitiveness and sustainability requires major technological advances. ETPs were set up as industry-led stakeholder forums with the aim of defining medium to long-term research and technological objectives and developing roadmaps to achieve them. Achieving these objectives will significantly enhance the everyday lives of European citizens in a number of ways.

They play a fundamental role in better aligning the research priorities of the European Union with industry needs. They cover the full economic value chain, thus ensuring that research-generated knowledge is transformed into technologies, processes and ultimately market-ready products and services.

The Instituto de Salud Carlos III supports research, development and innovation projects in the pharmaceutical industry (IMI, Innovative Medicines Initiative) (1) and nanotechnology (2) for medicine, by promoting the participation of National Health System research groups.
