A collaboration agreement is soon to be signed between the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and Roche Diagnostics that will allow improvements in the technological resources of Health Research Institutes.

Specifically, Roche Diagnóstics will provide selected Health Research institutes with 10 "LightCycler 96 Real Time PCR System” units.

The process for the selection of the Health Research Institutes to be granted these units will be as follows:

Each interested Health Research Institute will have until 18 July to formulate a single application for participation adressed to the Sub-Directorate General for Assessment and Promotion of Research using the form available below.

Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Appropriateness and interest of the proposal of priorities for the Strategic Action in Health and the Healthcare Research Institute. (0-10 points
  • Capacity of the Healthcare Research Institute to carry out Healthcare Research Projects in the areas of genetics and genomics. (0-20 points)
  • Relevance of the proposal for the optimisation of the capacities of the Healthcare Research Institute. (0-10 points)
  • Need for the performance of research projects in development in the areas of genetics and genomics. (0-20 points)
  • Relevance, applicability of technology and transferability of research projects in development to diagnostic solutions which help to improve the treatment and prevention of diseases. (0-20 points)
  • Shared use by research teams of the Healthcare Research Institute belonging to the various centres composing it (0-20 points)

ROCHE will sign agreements with the selected Health Research institutes defining the conditions of the cession.

Programme for the Stabilisation of Researchers and Research Technicians and Intensification of Research Activity in the National System (Decision of 2 March 2007, of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III), within the framework of the National Science and Technology Strategy (ENCYT) 2008-2015.

The aims of the Programme are to:

a) Foster stable incorporation of researchers from National Health System institutions hired through the Human Resources and Research Dissemination Programme of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (contracts for researchers at the Instituto de Salud Carlos III).

b) Encourage incorporation in the National Health System of researchers with significant research potential in emerging and consolidated groups.

c) To encourage stable incorporation into the National Health System of research-support technicians contracted via the Programme of Human Resources and Dissemination of Research of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Research support contracts of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III)

d) Promote intensification of the research activity of staff at National Health System institutions who conduct support activity, thus helping to increase the number and quality of researchers and research groups.
