Nearly 400,000 people in Spain develop diabetes every year

The study, promoted by CIBERDEM and conducted in 2016-17, calculated the incidence rate for diabetes in adults at 11.58 cases per 1,000 people per year, which represents 386,003 new cases every year. Researchers re-evaluated the same cohort that was studied from 2008-2010 (this period constituted the first stage of the study). This stage set the prevalence of diabetes in Spain and the data contained 2,048 people that did not suffer from diabetes during the period 2008-2010
